Review: Clarins Joli Brilliant Lipsticks!

Sometimes cosmetic companies make bad decisions. Eyeshadow trios that are meant to be swiped across the lid all at once, or blushes that feel like glue on your cheeks are just a couple of examples. But sometimes, something magical happens. Companies hear your thoughts - and they do something about it. You might remember last year, Clarins had re-launched one of my favorite foundations. Everlasting foundation was fantastic, and when I found out they discontinued it I was very upset. Alas, the new Everlasting formula came and it was amazing. Much improved and everything was fine in the world. Well, Clarins has done it again. They've taken an existing product (Joli Brilliant Lipsticks) and reformulated. And once again, I am very happy with the upgrade. Let's get to the swatches, because let's be real... It's all about the colors!

From Left to Right: Guava, Raspberry, Fig, Cherry, Coral Tulip, Watermelon, Rose Blossom, Hibiscus, Hot Fuchsia, Pink Praline, Tea Rose and Soft Berry.
Let me tell you why these lipsticks are a huge improvement over the old formula. I remember trying the old formula once before. It ended with me having glitter all over my lips, in the small cracks of my lips - and basically all around my mouth. Not cute. The colors themselves were beautiful, and yes they felt okay on the lips, but the glitter was just too much. The new formula however is way toned down when it comes to glitter. The formula is now more hydrating thanks to Organic Marsh Sampire, providing you with up to six hours of moisture. I always cringe at those claims, but the basic information is that these lipsticks are smooth, hydrating, and will not leave you with glitter cracks on your mouth! They retail for $28.00 CAD.

Another great product to look into from Clarins is their new Lip Perfecting Base. This retails for $25.00 CAD and is ideal for people that want to avoid feathering with their lipstick, and want a moisturizing base before lipstick application. This is a fantastic product to layer underneath a more matte lipstick.

What can I say Clarins? Thank you for being inside of my head and revamping the formula of these lipsticks! I love them now, Raspberry has become one of my go to colors!
