This is an exciting one you guys. Nothing brightens up a winter day than the arrival of a Spring Makeup Collection. Canadian icon Lise Watier did not disappoint with her Variations de Nude assortment. Shadows, blush, contour sticks, dual ended brow products, balms ... There is something here for everyone. Let's get into it! Swatches, prices... Everything!
The first thing I grabbed when I saw this collection were the balms. All I could think of, was finding my high end match for my all time favourite Baby Lips in Cherry Me. And I was right. These balms are so smooth and hydrating, and give me a great wash of color without being too high maintenance. I wish they had more of a pointed tip, instead of the rounded tip, because it would give a more precise application, but that is by no means a deal breaker for me! These balms come in three shades, and retail for $20.00 CAD.
The next thing that grabbed my eye was the large eyeshadow palette. I was so happy to learn that this is highlighted in the Spring collection, but it will be a permanent product in the Lise Watier line. It retails for $65.00 CAD, and contains 12 shadows. There is an assortment of matte and shimmer shades, and one particular shade that has captured my heart.
See the second last shade on the top row? That mustard seed shade? Where has that BEEN all my life. It's seriously my new obsession, and I can honestly say I don't have any shade close to that in my embarrassingly large makeup collection. These shadows were interesting to me. They apply to the eye beautifully. They blend well, and keep their color pretty true to pan. However when I went to swatch them, I had trouble getting a solid swatch without streaks. Not sure why this happened, as I loved the application on my eyes. I think anyone could get lots of use out of this palette. The giant mirror and even the double ended brush that comes with it is great quality. I think this was a great move for Lise Watier and this palette is worth it to me even just for the that beloved shade of mine. (That color in the crease on a brown eyed woman!? Stop, I can't handle it! So beautiful!)
The double ended brow product has also really worked for me. The brush is very Gimme Brow-esque, and definitely contains the small fibres that are going to give you a fuller brow. I got great filling and also great hold from the product. The hidden star is the other end though. The brow highlighting pencils are fantastic. They are the perfect shape to get under that brow and really shape everything and give a beautiful crisp brow, while highlighting and lifting the eye. These retail for $33.00 CAD, and compared to other products on the market, totally worth it for the product that you get. Available in two shades, this is something you will want to see in store before committing to it!
The Pro Contour stick is another product I think a lot of people are going to be intrigued by. There are a few things right off the bat that I would change about this product. Number one, the packaging. I'm not a fan of the super chubby format while contouring, as I find it a little messy and I prefer a skinnier stick. (Shoutout to my favourite Smashbox Contour Sticks!) This isn't the worst thing that could happen, as I can easily pick up the product on a slim brush and apply that way. The sponge on the other end is a great idea, but I still prefer using my Beauty Blender, since it's much easier to clean. The sponge tip would be great when travelling though. The thing I am the most picky about is color, and I have to say this one works on my skin. It didn't look orange, and gave the illusion of a natural shadow. As normal, it looks terrifying when you apply, but once blended you are left with a natural looking contour. This product retails for $28.00 CAD and is limited edition.
Of course I left the blush for last. The packaging and presentation is absolutely beautiful. I had a few emotions when playing with this product for the first time. Upon swatching I was slightly disappointed that it didn't have a heavier pigment. But after playing with it more and applying it, I realized it's actually a beautiful blush. I think if you have a deeper skin tone, this would make a great blush topper to give a bit of a glow, but on my fair skin I have to say it looks very pretty. An easy blush to apply, you can throw this on super quickly and be out the door. This retails for $35.00 and will be limited edition.
There is also a liquid liner highlighted in this collection that I didn't receive. It is a dark brown shade that shows true to color. Those who have used the older brown liner from Lise Watier will know it runs a bit red, so this new formula is a welcome addition to the lineup! It will be permanent and it retails for $22.00!
This is the first Spring collection I have really dig into this year! What are you guys excited about? I am dying to get the new Dior highlight from their collection. That will have to be an Optimum purchase so I don't break my cosmetic ban!
Some blog posts might seem ridiculous. This is a safe environment for Beauty Junkies! If you bought something just because of the packaging, or you find yourself procrastinating by swatching, this is the place for you.
