Anyone around my age that grew up listening to Gwen Stefani when she was in No Doubt, knows that she was the ultimate "bad ass" girl. I remember seeing her with braces and pink hair and being so inspired that she truly didn't seem to care what other people thought of her. She definitely had a part in my upbringing, so when I saw that she collaborated with one of my favourite brands Urban Decay, I knew I was on board!
The first thing that needs to be said about this palette, is there are a lot of light colors. The balance of light, medium and dark shade is not there. For me personally, it doesn't bother me as I love these shimmery lighter shades on my lids. Zone is a great transition shade, as is Anaheim. I suspect I will hit pan on those shades first. Bathwater, Baby, Steady and Pop are all beautiful shades that swept across the lid alone, make for a beautiful (and fast!) eye look. I have noticed a bit of fall out with the darker shades, nothing that has caused me any trauma, as I always do my eyes first when using more pigmented colors. I was blown away by the 1987 shade. The gold pigment in that is unlike any shadow I have in my collection. The blackout shade also did not disappoint. It takes a little longer to blend than some other shadows, but the finished look is worth it. I am also getting a lot of use out of it for setting my eyeliner. I have no complaints about the wear time of these shadows, and have never experienced any creasing with them. I was also pleasantly surprised to find out that the shadows look very true to the pan, and you don't end up looking like you just have one dark shade on.
The packaging really needs no praise, as it is absolutely stunning. It feels very well built, and the mirror is a perfect one for travelling. I could not be happier with it. The palette retails for $70.00CAD and is available at Sephora, (some) Shoppers Drug Mart and at www.urbandecay.ca
If you are someone like me that for the most part wears neutral shades but sometimes wants the option of a splash of color, I think you will really enjoy this palette. Below I posted the swatches of the product. Keep in mind that these are all swatched the same with no primer. I rub the shadow for about three seconds and do one swipe with it on the skin.
Have you guys picked up this palette yet? I think it would be a great Christmas gift! I can`t stop looking at how saturated that black shade is!
I will chat with you guys soon!
Some blog posts might seem ridiculous. This is a safe environment for Beauty Junkies! If you bought something just because of the packaging, or you find yourself procrastinating by swatching, this is the place for you.
