Sometimes there are products that launch that just make sense to you. Products you know you will use until they're completely gone, and not a flashy limited edition launch that you will obsess over for a week and then put it in a drawer forever to be forgotten. The new CandleGlow Sheer Perfecting Powder from Laura Mercier is just that. When I saw this in store, I was drawn to it immediately. The blurred out glowy skin on the advertisements, the sleek and classy packaging of Laura Mercier... the whole experience was intoxicating for me. I swatched it on the back of my hand, and the glow pulled me in. Not a trace of glitter or even micro shimmer. Just a reflective glow staring back at me.
This powder retails for $46.00CAD and comes in 6 shades. I of course chose the lightest shade, and it works very well on my skin. It gives me enough colour to give my skin some life, and never makes me look chalky. With the very sheer finish it gives, I can see this working well as a bronzer (obviously with a darker shade)
I think that people with dry skin will really appreciate what this powder has to offer. It does not cling to my dry patches, it sets my foundation effectively without making my skin look dull or overly matte. It definitely helps to blur out any imperfections and gives the skin a very subtle glow. Think Hourglass Ambient Powders! If you're looking to maximize the glow, you can apply with a sponge, or tap directly on the cheekbones with your fingers. For me, I will stick to using this with a fluffy brush all over my face, to take away any tackiness left over from liquid foundation application.
I have zero regrets about this purchase. I will reach for this daily, and I know I will get my use out of it! Laura Mercier has always been a solid brand for me. I will purchase her products without doing too much research, because she always nails it!
I have been on a pretty long journey to find the perfect foundation product for my skin lately. My skin is quite dry, red and it has the patience of a two year old. It can flip on a dime. The past few weeks I have been very sick, and for a few days I was convinced my nose was going to fall off because of all the Kleenex action it was getting. I was finding my current foundations (that I normally love) were just sitting on the skin too apparantly, and not flattering my skin at all. I saw this product waiting to be used in my collection and I am SO glad I opened it and started using it in my daily routine. For starters, it has SPF 25. I always use a separate sunscreen in the morning, but any added sun protection is just the cherry on top for me. The claim behind this product is that it detoxifies your skin during wear. It leaves you with a satin finish and provides light to medium coverage. (In my opinion, more leaning towards medium!)
Enriched with Acerola Seed extract, this product promotes oxygenation of the skin. Meadowsweet extract helps to keep the skin balanced, and it also has an anti-pollution complex in it. This is a rare product that I would not change a thing about. I love the squeeze tube with a pump packaging, the coverage is exactly what I want for day to day wear, and the skin loving ingredients just make it that much better. I wear this in the shade 00 Fair, and it will be a great winter match for me. This formula is fluid, and does not catch on dry patches at all, rather it makes the skin look luminous and healthy. This product has helped me get my makeup routine back on track, and I am so thankful I found it!
This is definitely the makeup I will be wearing for the next little bit. It has the ease of a BB cream, but (for me) the coverage and lasting power I would expect from a foundation. When I apply this I can't help but feel like my skin is taking a huge inhale, and exhaling all the toxins that we come into contact with daily.
