Before I get into this blog I wanted to say a huge thank you to all you readers out there. I was recently mentioned on Narcity as one of the 12 Beauty Bloggers you must follow, and I only have you guys to thank! If you'd like to check out the article you can click here.
Something happened to me in the Summer, and I have been keeping it mildly to myself until I was ready to shout it from the rooftops. That time has come, and I want to let you guys know about a skincare line that has truly changed my skin.
This past Summer I got an email from the PR Department at Kiehl's. They invited me to a Blogger event at the newly opened store in the Halifax Shopping Centre. Obviously my curiousity was high, as I have heard amazing things about Kiehl's, and until that store opened, I had only seen their products in airports while travelling. I had tried their hand salve, and their famous body lotion and fell in love with both.
The event was amazing, and of course I left with a bag of products to try. They gave us all personalized skin consultations and sent us home with the products that were matched to us. I remember being hesitant to try them, and it took me awhile to take the plunge. My skin is so sensitive and very reactive to most new products, and I remember I had a wedding to attend and didn't want my skin to be a mess. When I was ready I slowly introduced the products one at a time (If I started them all together and reacted, I would have no idea what did it to me!)
Let me be very clear when I say this. This skincare line is incredible. Not only did my skin not react, but visible changes have happened since I started using them. AND the big kicker, is I have repurchased them since I ran out. If there is ever a test to how much I like a product, it is when I will repurchase. I started with a fairly basic regime. Ultra Facial Cleanser, Ultra Facial Toner and Ultra Facial Cream. In the morning I would apply the Daily Reviving Concentrate, and at nighttime the Midnight Recovery Concentrate. On top of all of these, I have also been using the Creamy Avocado Eye Treatment.
I knew quickly how much I loved the products, and when I ran out of the midnight recovery concentrate, I knew I had to get my hands on it again. I added myself to their email list, and was happy to see that they frequently do promos online and I was able to get free shipping, 20% off, and my choice of four deluxe sized samples. I ordered right away, and that brought me to try the Nightly Refining Micro Peel Concentrate. That specific product is meant to accelerate the cell renewal of your skin. Similar to the effects of Glycolic Acid, but it is made with Quinoa Husk extract. I thought for sure my skin would react to that but when I woke up with nothing but clear and smooth skin, I knew I had found my skincare haven. I recently attended another event, and was lucky enough to get some other products to try. The Rare Earth Deep Cleansing Mask and the Cilantro and Orange extract mask are two of my go to's at the moment.
I still have lots to try from the brand, but I will continue to put my faith in them as nothing has disappointed me yet. I am excited to try some of their hair products soon!
Do you guys have one skincare brand in particular that you blindly trust with everything? I have a friend that is obsessed with Clarins and everything they make seems to love her ...
Can we also talk about how tomorrow is December 1st?! I am going to be posting once a day, everyday on Instagram in December to show you guys 31 products that I am absolutely loving. Both old and new!

This makeup hiatus I have put myself on has proven to be a serious challenge. I cannot believe it is November already, and I have not broken once this entire year. The day I have been waiting for finally came, and I was able to pick up whatever I wanted with no guilt. The 20% off sale at Sephora is a big deal, as it should be. High end cosmetics rarely go on sale, so everybody should jump on the chance to get a break while they can. I like to go the extra mile and get the best value I can. My makeup motto has really become "try as much as you can for the smallest cost possible." So value sets for me are the way to go. I love when brands collaborate, and come together to make a mish-mash of products to discover and fall in love with. Im going to show you guys three different ones I picked up. The first is the biggest one I could get my hands on. Sephora Favourites: Trending Beauty's Most Coveted. It includes 12 bestselling products (5 full sized) including the nude Beauty Blender, Estee Edit Kohl Shadowstick in Black Viper, Urban Decay Vice lipstick in 714, Kat Von D Tattoo Liner in Trooper and the Cover FX Enhance Click in Bubbly. The other products you get include a trial size of Becca Moonstone, Benefit Kabrow! (Shade 3) Glamglow Supermud, Laura Mercier Setting Powder/Puff, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer, the Foreo Luna Play and the Tarte Marine Boosting 4 in 1 mist.
So I have mixed feelings about this set. I already have the setting powder, the facial mist, the Kabrow! and enough Beauty Blenders to blend out 20 football teams. But I was very attracted to the Becca Moonstone powder. I still have not tried that one, as Opal is usually included in sets like these. The Foreo was super intriguing as well, but I was disappointed when I saw that it only gives you up to 100 uses. I get it, they're expensive to purchase ... but still I'm bummed about it. I was also hoping there would be some sort of a kick back like $50 off if you decide to purchase the large size. I am an avid Clarisonic user, and I am just so curious to see what these little silicone gems have to offer me. There are a few things I am not really looking forward to, mainly the Urban Decay lipstick (I wish they would have put in a neutral colour instead of red) and the Kat Von D tattoo liner has never worked well for me. Then there are the things I am excited to try because I have no opinion. The Cover FX highlight stick, the GlamGlow mask and the Estee Edit kohl stick fall into that category.
Overall, these sets are always a love/hate. This retails for $90.00 CAD. If you want to purchase one thing in the set, its almost impossible to say no to the other ones tagging along. (To me at least!) I am excited to dive in and of course I will let you guys know any fails/wins!
These two smaller kits are getting me more excited than the large one. The Glow For it kit retails for $36 CAD and is 100% worth it in my opinion. You get the Becca shimmering skin perfector (liquid) in Moonstone, a Benefit Watts Up, Cover FX Custom Infusion Drops in C + Lemongrass - Radiance, Hourglass Ambient Strobe Lighting Powder in Incandescent Strobe Light, Lancome Glow Subtil Silky Creme Highlighter in Glowing Lights and Milk Makeup Sunshine Oil. The Sunshine Oil is actually very intriguing to me. I like the idea of the rollerball packaging, so hopefully that one doesn't disappoint me!
The Scouted by Sephora set would make a great stocking stuffer for any makeup lover. It retails for $28 CAD and features the products that were truly born and bred at Sephora. The Makeup Eraser was what made me buy this. I have been so curious about it since it launched, and if it does truly work, I am buying the full size as soon as my Makeup Hiatus is over at the end of the year. The Besame Lipstick Matches are also a cute product. It probably cost them 5 cents to make, but they still make me happy. The Grande Lips lip plumper is a perfect size for your purse and I am praying it doesn't burn too badly on my lips. The Milk mascara is a great trial size, and I am looking forward to trying that as well. And the colour of the Wander Beauty Lip/Cheek stick is up my alley as well. (Everyone can get use out of a dusty rose shade like that!)
All in all I am pretty excited with my purchases. I will be diving in this evening to see what ones are going to stand out. More details to come I am sure!
What did you guys get/going to get for the 20% sale? I love seeing what people buy this time of year. Im the crazy lady that will ask you whats in your bag at the mall!
Some blog posts might seem ridiculous. This is a safe environment for Beauty Junkies! If you bought something just because of the packaging, or you find yourself procrastinating by swatching, this is the place for you.
