So I have been testing out BB Body creams for quite some time. It has taken me longer than expected, because Halifax weather has not really been cooperating lately. It's hard to test out BB creams for the body that give you color and illuminate your skin, and then put a turtleneck on. Not impressed.
Alas, there have been a few sunny days here and there, and I have been testing out three different BB creams for the body to see what one really makes the cut.
Biotherm BB Body ($32.00) Urban Decay Beauty Balm for Body ($39.00) and Jergens BB Body ($12.99)
So these were pretty straight forward products, but they are not all created equally. There are big differences between the look you get with each of these, and I'll walk you through each of them. It actually made it near impossible to choose a favorite, because the end result is so different with each.
Biotherm definitely has the most color. If you are looking for a BB cream for your body that will give you color, and help camouflage veins or discolouration, this is the one for you. It has that beautiful Bootherm citrus smell, and it makes your skin look great. Make sure to let the product dry before dressing, and make smart choices. They say this will not move until you take it off, but you wouldn't catch me in a white jumpsuit rocking this BB cream. It has the most transfer (and the most color) of the three options. After wearing the product for about an hour, I did a paper towel swipe to test the transfer resistance. As you can see, it wasn't the best.
Not enough to completely ignore the product, but enough that it would show of you were wearing a white dress. This product is also not waterproof, so if you are looking for something a little more bulletproof, I would suggest the Sally Hansen Airbrush Legs.
Next is the Urban Decay. This cream says it will firm, blur and illuminate the skin. It has a minty smell and feels cool to the touch. Don't expect much color from this, but the shimmer it gives the skin is really beautiful. I love putting this on my shoulders when I have a dress on, or a top that shows a bit more skin. The transfer issue was almost non existent, but that's only because there really isn't much color to this product. I don't feel like this moisturizes my skin as much as it should, but it's my favorite if I am looking for a noticeable sheen to the skin.
The last one is the cheapest, being the drugstore option. The Jergens one surprised me (I bought the shade for medium to deep skin tones) and it really didn't give me much color. It didn't give me much sparkle either. But it did make my skin look immedietly more healthy, and super moisturized. The other two BB creams made people ask me what was on my skin. Nobody asked me what I had on with the Jergens, and I think that's because it just makes you look like you have great skin. The transfer was not as bad as Biotherm, but a little worse than the Urban Decay.
As you can see from the pictures, each of these BB creams has a niche. If you're looking for color, go Biotherm. If shimmer is on the top of your list, go Urban Decay. And if you just want something that looks super natural and makes your skin look new and improved, Id go with the Jergens.
To be honest, none of these were completely life changing. The Urban Decay is the only one I would repurchase (god I love shimmer!) If I lived somewhere like Florida or California, I think I would appreciate them a lot more.
Do you guys use BB creams for your body?

It feels so good to sit down and have a few minutes to myself to write this blog. It's been a mixture of business, (bridal season is a killer) family needs (we got a new puppy!) and to be honest, it took me a long time to decide what to say for this blog post. I'll try to break it down for you the best I can. My holy grail Benefit Gimme Brow has a competitor, and let me tell you, it's tough.
First of all, let's talk specs. Benefit Gimme Brow now retails for $30.00CAD (it's gone up four dollars since it launched!) for a 3.0ml tube. It comes in two shades (Light Medium and Medium Deep) and boats a fibre gel texture that promises to adhere to not only the hair, but the skin as well. This makes it ideal for sparse brows, giving great volume very quickly.
The new Clinique Just Browsing retails for $19.00 CAD for a 2.0ml tube. While 1/3 smaller, the price difference is definitely something to raise a brow at. (Pun intended) It comes in four shades and has a mousse formula that also easily grabs onto brow hair, but also works on the skin, making it possible to create a brow tail, even if your brows aren't as long as you would like!
So right away, the price of Clinique is way more appealing. And I also appreciate the bigger range of shades. Blonde, Light Brown, Deep Brown and Black/Brown ensure that everyone has a shade match. One of the first things I said when Benefit launched Gimme Brow was "What about my auburn beauties?" The product range is lacking a warm toned color, and Clinique has totally filled that void.
Down to the actual wear of the product. I have been testing these against eachother for weeks. I had a really hard time deciding what I like better. The packaging is totally identical and they both wear all day on me. I find that both products dry out a little faster than I would like, and both allow me to build on the skin around, and the hair of my brow. The Benefit does seem to apply a bit smoother, but nothing major enough for me to make a decision based on that alone. It finally came down to a poll. And even that ended evenly. I asked ten people what brow they preferred, and each product got 5 votes.
My absolute bottom line on these brow products was so hard to reach. After considering how hard I've thought about it, price and shade range won this battle, and I will be recommending the Clinique over the Benefit solely based on price. If something is that hard to detect which is better, the answer is always the cheaper one in my opinion!
Have you tried these brow products yet? What one do you prefer?

How is everyone doing? I have some really exciting news. Through the blur that is bridal season, I got a chance to do a collaboration with one of my favorite YouTubers, crystalis007. We did an American/Canadian makeup swap, and sent eachother some great goodies that aren't available in eachothers countries! The video haul has been posted on my YouTube channel (girlmetblush) and I wanted to put a quick post up here with swatches so you guys could better see the products that Crystal sent me! Make sure you check out the video, and Crystals video as well!
Some blog posts might seem ridiculous. This is a safe environment for Beauty Junkies! If you bought something just because of the packaging, or you find yourself procrastinating by swatching, this is the place for you.
