So let's be real here. I feel that this Summer has been a whomp whomp for makeup collections. Not as much color as I would have liked. Don't get me wrong, I love my neutrals, but Summer collections are the only real time that I look for bright and different colors. Thankfully, Lancôme has launched a new limited edition Hypnose Collection that gave me a few Color options! This collection is available for a limited time, and consists of two palettes ($57.00 CAD) and eight shadow sticks ($23.00 CAD)
The eyeshadow palettes are pigmented and blend very well. The only matte shade in the two palettes is the cream colored shade in the Nuit Mordorée palette. When I started using these shadows, I quickly found that I wish the layout was different. I find it hard to precisely use the shadows becaus the strips in the middle are a little too thin. The shadows also kick up a lot more powder than I would like. But alas, the blendability really made up for it. At first glance I was drawn to the Nuit Mordorée palette, but after applying them both I found I really loved the more cool toned Grège Parisien palette. These shadows lasted all day on my eyes with no eye primer, and I had no issue with creasing or fading. Lancôme palettes are always impressive when it comes to wear time, so this came to no surprise!
These shadow sticks have totally changed my thoughts about this format of shadow. They are so creamy, and one of the most long wearing formulas I have ever worked with. I have to use an oil to completely remove them, and there is absolutely no movement, smudging or fading. My favorite way of wearing these is under my bottom lash line as a smokey addition to an eye look. They work beautifully as an eye base underneath of shadows as well. They all come with a sharpener on the bottom of the pencil that allows you to sharpen the product if needed. I always try my best to strategically use the pencil to keep the point sharp, but you can only do so much with them. You do have a small window of time to blend these out before they set, and as mentioned before they are bulletproof once they set!
At $23.00 CAD these shadow sticks are an absolute steal. There are very limited quantities in stores, and this is a limited edition collection, so if you're interested make sure you check these out soon!
Talk to you guys soon!
I wearily write this blog post, finally feeling confident that I am used to the drugs from my tonsil surgery enough that I can write words and actually make sense to my readers.
First of all, thank you to everyone who has sent their well wishes on social media, I really appreciate it. I seem to be getting worse day by day, but my doctor said that was normal. It's nearly impossible to eat anything, so by the end of this recovery, I might not even need a contour kit to thin my face. Here's hoping .... (I digress...)
Quo has launched two limited edition contour palettes and a contour brush. The palettes are priced at $18.00 and the brush is $16.00. And of course, Quo does go on sale so there is always a chance of getting it cheaper! I chose the medium palette, as funny enough, the highlight shade in the light palette is actually darker, and the contour color was a bit too warm. I found the medium palette to be perfect, with both a matte highlight and cool contour shade. These powders are not as silky as I would like, but they still work very well. As a highlight, I prefer something that has a lot more impact, but I find myself using the lighter powder to set my undereye area. While not as soft to the touch as I would like, the powders blend well, and the colors are great for my super light skin tone.
Onto the brush. I absolutely love the width and the length of the bristles of this brush. The length of the handle is wonderful, and I have really enjoyed using it. It does have a few bristles here and there that stick out a little more than the others, and to be honest it's definitely not my softest brush. It is by no means uncomfortable to use, and just for the perfect shape of it, I say this brush it totally worth it. I have had zero problem with shedding from this brush, however the first time I washed it, I was surprised at how much black dye came from the bristles. It was intense, so definitely make sure you give this a good cleaning before putting it on your face!
The palette is by no means the silkiest, but I have gotten a lot of use out of it, and I love that it only had two colors. 99% of people don't need 6-8 color options in their contour palette, and the only negative thing I could say is the pigment isn't a rich as I would have liked. But that isn't excatly a bad thing when we are talking about contour. The colors are buildable and blendable and for $18.00 I think they are totally worth it.
As mentioned before, these items are limited edition, so if you want to get your frugal contour on, get to a Shoppers Drug Mart ASAP!
That's it folks, I hope you enjoyed this post. I really miss making videos, as soon as I can speak again and I am feeling okay I will be back on schedule!

Hey beauties! How is it going? I hope everyone is having a better day than me today. I had to take Dexter to the vet, and anyone with a cat probably can relate to the horror of taking a cat in the car. Alas, we both survived and we are snuggled safe at home again. I wanted to blog about a new company I was introduced to a few weeks ago. SST Cosmetics is a Canadian company (love that!) and they boast healthy ingredients, taking out things like Parabens and Talc. The company is also 100% cruelty free. The 2015 Spring Collection "Quintessential" was sent my way, and I am finally ready to let you guys know what I think about the products I was able to try!
High Shine Lip Polish in "Vital": $19.95 CAD
Hydrating Lipstick in "Stripped": $19.95 CAD
Silky Eyeshadow in "Composed": $17.95 CAD
Silky Eyeshadow Combo in "Mild": $21.95 CAD
I have been playing with this collection since I got it, and to be honest, I was very nicely surprised. The first thing I applied to my skin was the eyeshadows. The eyeshadow combo in Mild is a duo of two very neutral eyeshadows. The shadow pan is divided between a matte cream shade, and a beige colored shimmer shade. I like how you get two different colors and two different textures in one pan, this has already come in handy while travelling. I will apply the matte shade all over my lids from lashline to brow bone, and use the more shimmery shade on the inner corners of the eyes to open up the eyes. The texture of the SST eyeshadows are not as silky as I am used to, however the pigment is great. The shade composed is a new favorite of mine. It blended so easily on the lid, and as always, I tested these shadows with absolutely no form of eyelid primer. I wore the shadow for over 12 hours, and I had no trace of creasing, fading, or smudging. The color looks very true to what you see in the pan. I get a lot of compliments on my eyes everytime I wear this color.
The next product I want to let you guys know about is the Hydrating Lipstick in "Stripped". Before I even start, you should know that I am not a huge fan of shimmery lipsticks. By itself, this was not something I enjoyed wearing. The color is absolutely beautiful, but the texture of a lipstick that has a lot of shimmer in it, just doesn't appeal to me. I did however continue to play with the product, and found that it looks beautiful when applied to the centre of the bottom lip. It gives a beautiful shine to the lip, and adds volume. If you are someone who does enjoy shimmer in their lip products, I am sure you would love this as your Summer nude lipstick!
The last item in the collection that I tried has become a complete new favorite of mine. The High Shine Lip Polish in "Vital" has become my new purse gloss. I have worn this almost everyday since I got it, and when it is gone, I will be repurchasing this. This shade is a mauve-y pink that is a perfect "your lips but better" color for me. I love this worn alone, and I also layer it on top of my Dior "Greige" lipliner. The texture is not too thick or sticky, and it doesn't gather in the corners of my mouth like some glosses can. I absolutely love the packaging, it comes with a doe foot applicator, but the plastic part that holds the gloss has a little give to it, so you can really squeeze out the product when it starts to run low. This is one of these products that I use so frequently, that I will repurchase for sure. If you are looking for that perfect everyday color, and you enjoy a shiny gloss that doesn't feel heavy or sticky on the lips, you should definitely try this out. It was worth getting to know the brand for this product alone. I can't say enough good things about it!
Overall, I was very happy with this brand. I would love to try some of their other lip products that don't have shimmer in them, and I definitely want some more shades of the High Shine Lip Polishes. Vital is a part of the Spring 2015 collection, so hopefully I will be able to reorder it because the color is perfect!
This brand has some beautiful products that would be good for anyone to try, but if you are someone who is interested in a paraben/chemical free line, and no animal testing is important to you, this is definitely a line you should check out!
This line is available at over 70 salons in Canada, or if you prefer, you can shop online.
Thank you guys so much for reading!
