Happy Holidays everyone! I wanted to make sure I got this post up for two reasons today. I have the entire morning to myself (rare) and the photo that I took for this post has a reindeer background that I feel is not going to be as festive in January. The Marc Jacobs O!Mega Lash Volumizing Mascara was the next on the chopping block from my Sephora Favourites Lash Stash kit. My best friend absolutely LOVES this mascara, and after hearing her rave about it over and over I couldn't wait to put it to the test! As always, lets look at what the claims are from this product (taken from the Sephora website!)
What it is:
A lash-expanding, ultra volumizing mascara designed to deliver high-drama lashes.
What it does:
Get full lashes that make eyes pop with this water-based mascara formula from Marc Jacobs. It incorporates a special size-increasing blend of rice bran, bayberry, carob, and African acacia tree extracts for maximum lash-expanding impact. The essential oils deeply condition lashes, while vitamins B5 and C strengthen and hold them in place for even longer wear. The innovative double brush features an advanced design that's formed by stitching together two different brushes: one for enhanced lash separation, and another for mega-volume and curl. Together, the full-body mascara formula and dual brush design lengthen, curl, define, and volumize lashes so that they’re longer, louder, and blacquer than ever before.
What it is formulated WITHOUT:
What else you need to know:
“From the packaging, to the actual formula, to the application—it’s deliciously thick and luxurious.”—Marc Jacobs
So as a consumer, after reading that description, I was very excited for the brush. You can throw ingredients at me all day long, but lets be honest ... Most of us don't know why rice bran and carob would be good for our lashes, A double brush that separates and gives volume? That I can get on board with. Funny enough, the brush is what made me not like this mascara. I found that it was very hard to transfer the product from the wand to my lashes. Instead of being able to simply blink down on the wand, I had to almost tease my lashes back and forth in order for the product to transfer. Which of course, ended in spider lashes that were clumped and looked tangled. Because it didn't deposit a lot of product on my lashes, I did enjoy this on my bottom lashes, however the formula still smudged on me. I experienced no flaking, but my lower lashline would just continually get smokier and smokier through the day. I would not repurchase this full size, as I have been more impressed with some drugstore mascaras. For those of you wondering, my best friend and I are okay after this experience. It's rare that we disagree on products, but when it happens, it is fierce!
How have you guys been? Any New Years resolutions that you're making for 2016? I have a giant one that I am going to do a video on soon...
I have moved on to the Buxom mascara in the Lash Stash kit, and as always, I will let you know next month what I think of it!
