I sometimes find myself singing along to that commercial that they played over and over in the 90's about Drugs. Do you gust remember that? Drugs, drugs, drugs ... Which are good? Which are bad? Drugs, drugs, drugs ... Ask your mom or ask your dad!
Anyway, I sing that all the time but instead of singing about drugs, naturally I sing about brows. Which are good? Which are bad? Brows can make or break a face. They are easily the most important step to framing the face, and giving yourself an instant eye lift.
Recently I tried out the Flower Beauty Raise Some Brows pencil. This is a makeup line available at Wal-Mart that was created by Drew Barrymore.
I chose the color Light Brown, and I am happy with the shade for my medium ombre hair. This is a 0.3g pencil, that self sharpens, and retails for about $6.00CAD. My immediate reaction the first time I used this, was that the pencil itself is super dry. Normally, I like my brow pencils to be slightly more dry than your typical creamy eyeliner. This will allow the product to really adhere to the hairs and sometimes the skin. If it's too creamy, you will have Picasso brows by the end of the day, and nobody wants smudged brows.
The packaging instructs you to use light short strokes to fill in sparse areas on the eyebrow. Sounds perfect right? The problem is, this brow pencil is so dry, that you need to really press it into the brow to get some pigment off of it. And, it's not your typical extra skinny pencil. It has a thicker surface area than I prefer, and since I have to press so hard to get the pigment onto my brow, I always end up with overdrawn eyebrows. It's a quick fix with a qtip, but it's a pain to have to go in and remove half of the product everytime I apply this. I would caution everyone that even though this seems like such a great deal, I would shell out a few extra bucks and get another brand. Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Color Brow Pencils are my favorite. Or, if you just want a soft look for the brows, find a matte eyeshadow that matches your brow color and apply with an angled brush.
Other than this, I have really liked the other products that I have tried from Flower Beauty. Their lip products are beautiful, and I also tried a mascara that came in a holiday kit, and I liked that too.
