Sometimes cosmetic companies make bad decisions. Eyeshadow trios that are meant to be swiped across the lid all at once, or blushes that feel like glue on your cheeks are just a couple of examples. But sometimes, something magical happens. Companies hear your thoughts - and they do something about it. You might remember last year, Clarins had re-launched one of my favorite foundations. Everlasting foundation was fantastic, and when I found out they discontinued it I was very upset. Alas, the new Everlasting formula came and it was amazing. Much improved and everything was fine in the world. Well, Clarins has done it again. They've taken an existing product (Joli Brilliant Lipsticks) and reformulated. And once again, I am very happy with the upgrade. Let's get to the swatches, because let's be real... It's all about the colors!
Let me tell you why these lipsticks are a huge improvement over the old formula. I remember trying the old formula once before. It ended with me having glitter all over my lips, in the small cracks of my lips - and basically all around my mouth. Not cute. The colors themselves were beautiful, and yes they felt okay on the lips, but the glitter was just too much. The new formula however is way toned down when it comes to glitter. The formula is now more hydrating thanks to Organic Marsh Sampire, providing you with up to six hours of moisture. I always cringe at those claims, but the basic information is that these lipsticks are smooth, hydrating, and will not leave you with glitter cracks on your mouth! They retail for $28.00 CAD.
Another great product to look into from Clarins is their new Lip Perfecting Base. This retails for $25.00 CAD and is ideal for people that want to avoid feathering with their lipstick, and want a moisturizing base before lipstick application. This is a fantastic product to layer underneath a more matte lipstick.
What can I say Clarins? Thank you for being inside of my head and revamping the formula of these lipsticks! I love them now, Raspberry has become one of my go to colors!

Spring is almost always my favorite time of year for Makeup launches. The return of pastel shades, softer applications and glowy skin have me frothing at the mouth, and aggressively stalking Instagram for new launches. This year is no exception - and the new Stila Aqua Glow launch has me chomping at the bit!
This foundation comes in a 30ml bottle and retails for $59.00 CAD. The self loading dropper makes for a perfect amount of foundation everytime, and the texture is amazing. The formula is very fluid, and filled with skin loving ingredients like ionized water and hyaluronic acid. Not only do you get an immediate glowing complexion thanks to the reflective pigments, but your skin will be more hydrated with continued use of this foundation. The coverage is light to medium but definitely buildable, and even with a few layers on, it never looks cakey! One of my favourite things about this foundation is even when set with powder, it keeps its glowy finish. It by no means is the longest lasting foundation out there, but with the help of primers and setting sprays, I don't feel the need to touch up throughout the day while wearing this. I wear the shade Fair/Light and I have experienced no breakouts or reactions! I am definitely a fan of this product, and I think it would make a great addition to anyone's collection who might be looking for a fresh glowy complexion for Spring!
The concealer also comes in a very serum based formula, and boasts the same skin hydrating ingredients as the foundation. I am satisfied with the coverage, however this concealer tends to crease under my eyes in a really bad way. If I use the baking method with my trusty Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Loose Powder, this problem is no longer an issue, so it's not a deal breaker for me. The color range of both products is great, and there really is something for everybody. Below I will post the shades, as you will see the lighting is completely different in this one shot for some reason, but you can still see the shades!
Again, I use the shade Fair/Light in the concealer, which retails for $35.00 CAD for 7mls of product.
Overall, I am very happy with this launch. Besides the issue of the concealer creasing under my eyes, everything else is a green light for me. Glowy skin, light/medium buildable coverage, and a great color range!
This is just the start for Stila, they are really launching some great new items, and if you've noticed they have also gone through some renovations with the look of their line. The new classy gold packaging is amazing! Goodbye to the drab cardboard packaging and hello luxury!

Lets get real. Women (and men) have very different tastes in makeup. We have all been there when your bombshell best friend tells you that you simply HAVE to try this new makeup product, and even though it's way too expensive and you can't afford it, you take the plunge in hopes of turning into Beyonce. Only to question your best friends sanity because said product is the worst thing you've ever tried on in your life, and you ended up looking more LiLo than Queen B. This problem has been testing friendships for years, but luckily the new Smashbox Be Legendary lipstick collection has something for everybody. Ten creams and ten mattes, with a wide range of colors for every mood (even your darkest!) Lets get to the swatches, we will start with the creams!
The cream formula is my preference between the two, especially because if it's a matte look you're after, you can instantly turn any of these into a matte finish with the new (amazing) product from Smashbox called Insta-Matte. Expect to read a full blog on that product alone in the next few weeks! (Spoiler alert, it's amazing. Buy it.) these lipsticks are creamy and have the perfect amount of pigment. They last for a decent amount of time without feeling overly dry and they do not feather on my lips. I have found that my favorite way to apply is in sheer layers, slowly building the color to the intensity I want and not piling on a ton of product right from the get go.
I love the color range of the matte line, Mauve has quickly become an everyday staple for me. These lipsticks (as expected) do have a better staying power than the creams, but still do not make your lips feel like the Sahara Desert. The bold colors in this line make me feel vampy, and let's all just take a minute to talk about the elephant in the room. Yes Punked is a charcoal grey lipstick. No it does not look flattering on me, but I have sold it to so many women and on the right person, it's amazing. When my hair transformation is done and I am rocking the silver ombre, I will definitely revisit this shade!
These lipsticks retail for only $23.00 CAD which in the world of high end, is amazing. And from demure to sex kitten, there is a shade here for everyone!

Happy Easter weekend everybody! I hope you're all enjoying your weekend and got some quality time in with those you love! This has been one of my most requested blog posts to date. Ever since the Garnier Micellar Water started popping up on my Instagram feed, people have been asking me to compare it to my beloved Bioderma. As with most products, it was launched in the US way before Canada, so I had quite the wait for it. I went to work one day, and a magical fairy (who shall be named Danah) had found it at Wal-Mart and left it in my locker. I couldn't wait to use it! I've done side by sides, and used the product alone. I am finally ready to give you all the breakdown! Let's first talk price. So Bioderma comes in two sizes (and a travel size that is only available at certain times) a 250ml ($19.95 CAD) and a 500ml ($26.95 CAD) while the Garnier is only available in an 400ml for $11.99. As always, prices vary depending on where you purchase, and both of these brands do have sales from time to time. Neither one has a fragrance added, and both rinse clean and leave no tacky feeling on the skin.
Overall, I find that the Bioderma does still remove my makeup more efficiently, and with less effort. I found myself having to work a little harder with the Garnier, especially when dealing with my eyelashes. The interesting part was, when removing my mascara I found that I had to rub a little more aggressively than I wanted to, which caused the formula to actually bubble, and left some suds on my eyelashes. This caused a small amount of irritation in my eye, which was truly my deciding factor in this. I also experienced a mild redness to the skin, with a few tiny whiteheads on the Garnier side. I prefer the Bioderma, and I truly think I will never like another Micellar water more than that one. The Garnier was okay - and if you really are on a budget it's something I would consider. But for the price difference (which isn't too alarming) I would stick with the OG Bioderma. For those long term users of Bioderma, if you were wondering if it's the same - it's not.
I will continue to use the Garnier on my neck/throat, and I use it to remove eyeshadow swatches from my arms all the time. But for my face, it's still Bioderma all the way!
